Syria Turns a New Page Toward the Future

Today, August 24, 2026, the United States formally rescinded Syria’s designation as a State Sponsor of Terrorism, marking a historic turning point after nearly 47 years.

This decision is an important step toward ending international isolation and opening new opportunities for investment, trade, economic cooperation, and reconstruction.

The Canadian Syrian Board (CSB) congratulates the Syrian people at home and around the world on this historic milestone, and hopes it will be followed by further steps toward lifting the remaining sanctions and restrictions affecting Syria’s recovery and development.
